General & Definitions

User Experience (UX)

The design and usability of a specific interface or product — a subset of customer experience.

User experience (UX) refers specifically to the design and usability of a particular interface — how easy, intuitive, accessible, and pleasant it is to use. Good UX involves visual design, information architecture, interaction design, and accessibility.

UX is one component of customer experience (CX), which is broader. A customer can have great UX on a specific portal page but poor overall CX if other touchpoints (billing emails, support response times, sales handoffs) fail. Conversely, strong CX requires good UX at every digital touchpoint.
